Friends of Hospice...

History and Purpose

Friends of Hospice was established in 1990 as a 501(c)(3), non-profit organization by two caring individuals -- a business woman whose parents had been recipients of hospice care and a nurse.  The founders shared a common desire to help area patients and their families manage the financial difficulties associated with terminal illness.  They chose to support the patients of the Hospice of North Penn Visiting Nurse Association.

Friend of Hospice has grown in membership as well as fundraising goals as it continues to support the patients of the North Penn Visiting Nurse Association.

Use of Funds

One hundred percent of all funds raised by Friends of Hospice is used to ease the burden that can be experienced by patients and families while dealing with a life-limiting illness.  Examples of the support received through Friends of Hospice include:

  • Medication for symptom and pain control

  • Hardship household expenses

  • Home Health Aides

  • Family support as requested by the social worker

  • Respite care

  • Educational resources

Families who receive care from Hospice of North Penn VNA are eligible to place a request for financial support through the hospice social worker.
